Buccaneers, Former Raiders DE Agree to One-Year Deal, per Report

The Buccaneers and former Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib have reached an agreement on a one-year deal, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. It’s unknown at this time how much the deal is worth. 

Nassib became the first active NFL player to announce he is gay in June 2021. He subsequently donated $100,000 to The Trevor Project, an organization dedicated to crisis intervention and suicide prevention for LGBTQ youth. He repeated that donation in June. 

The 29-year-old was selected by the Browns in the third round of the 2016 NFL draft out of Penn State. He spent the first two years of his career in Cleveland before he was waived in September ’18. Tampa Bay picked him up shortly afterward, and he appeared in 15 games during the ’18 season, posting career highs in sacks (6.5) and tackles for loss (12). 

He signed a three-year deal with the Raiders in 2020 but was released in March. This past season, he appeared in 13 games off the bench, tallying 21 tackles and 1.5 sacks.
