ARLINGTON, Va. (AP)– Federal authorities revealed Tuesday that they’re examining after a cabbing aircraft took an incorrect turn at a Washington-area airport and crossed a runway where another airplane was preparing to remove.
The Federal Air travel Administration stated it occurred on the early morning of March 7 after air traffic control service cleared a Republic Airways Embraer 175 to taxi throughout a runway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport and a United Plane A319 was cleared to remove from another runway, The Washington Post reported The Republic pilots took the airplane in a various instructions and crossed the runway that the United flight will utilize, however a controller stepped in, authorities stated.
The United flight went back to the start of the runway at the airport in Arlington, Virginia, prior to removing for Chicago, and the Republic flight continued to Raleigh-Durham International Airport. The examination will identify how close the aircrafts were, the FAA stated.
