Snell was a late scratch from his scheduled start against the D-backs in Arizona on Sunday due to left adductor tightness. The left-hander dealt with the same issue last September, causing him to miss his final two scheduled starts of the season. More >

Happ had to come out of the Cubs’ game against the Brewers on Saturday after being hit by a pitch on the left knee. X-rays revealed no structural damage, and manager David Ross said Sunday that he kept Happ out of the starting lineup to give him a couple of days to recover, with the team having an off-day Monday. Ross added that Happ was available off the bench for Sunday’s game. More >

Rortvedt had imaging done recently that revealed no sign of the right oblique strain he sustained in February. He is expected to significantly increase his hitting activity starting Monday. He had already been active defensively, catching bullpen sessions and making throws of up to 120 feet. He is expected to return to the lineup sometime in April. More >

Arizona placed Weaver on the 10-day injured list retroactive to April 8, due to right elbow inflammation. He pitched two-thirds of an inning on Opening Day against the Padres, giving up a run on three hits. More >

Story didn’t play Sunday night due to a non-COVID illness. The hope is he will be in Monday’s lineup against the Tigers.

Barnes was held out of the Red Sox’s series against the Yankees due to back tightness. Manager Alex Cora said Sunday he was confident that Barnes would be available Monday. More >

Mike Minor, Luis Castillo, Donovan Solano and Lucas Sims, Reds

Minor (sore left shoulder) has been cleared to make a rehab start with Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday. He threw 35 pitches without issue during a simulated game at Truist Park on Friday.

Castillo (sore right shoulder) threw a bullpen session at Truist Park on Saturday. He is scheduled to play catch on the off-day Monday, and throw off a mound again Wednesday.

Solano (left hamstring injury) did some running Saturday and took some ground balls Sunday, manager David Bell said. Bell also said Solano is “getting close” but “not in the next week close.”

Sims dealt with back spasms over the offseason and did not have enough time to ramp up to regular-season readiness with the abbreviated Spring Training. He threw live batting practice against Minor League hitters at Cincinnati’s Spring Training facility in Arizona, and Bell said Saturday that the session went well. Bell also said that Sims should be able to pitch for Triple-A Louisville soon and could be back with the Reds by around April 20. More >

Fernando Tatis Jr., Padres

Tatis, who underwent left wrist surgery last month, is expected to begin swinging a bat again in about three weeks, he said Saturday. He said that he’ll have a better idea of a target return date after that. The general timetable for a return from his injury is three months. More >

Lucas Giolito and AJ Pollock, White Sox

Giolito exited his Opening Day start after 61 pitches over four scoreless innings due to left abdominal tightness. According to manager Tony La Russa, the “optimistic” estimate is that the right-hander will miss at least two starts. More >

Texas placed Gray on the 10-day IL due to a right middle finger blister on Saturday, one day after the righty threw four innings against the Blue Jays in the Rangers’ season opener. Manager Chris Woodward said he expects Gray to miss only one start. More >

Longoria had his stitches removed Friday and is taking ground balls and swings with one hand. He expects to progress to grip work at the two-week mark. The third baseman is expected to miss six weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a ligament in his right index finger on March 29. More >
