Mets closer Edwin Diaz has been going viral for his walkout but Citi Field is about to see it get even better with a new twist to sounding the trumpets.
Few things in baseball right now are more electric than the atmosphere at Citi Field whenever New York Mets closer Edwin Diaz is taking the mound. Not only is he one of the best in MLB this season at shutting down any opposing comeback attempt, but it’s his walkout that has created quite the buzz.
The phrase “sound the trumpets” is becoming commonplace in the Big Apple because of Diaz’s use of the song “Narco” by Blasterjaxx featuring Timmy Trumpet. The anthem blares throughout the stadium with loud trumpets and everyone loses their minds.
But that’s about to get even more electric, or at least it will for one night at the ballpark.
According to reports, Timmy Trumpet is going to be at the Mets home game in late August and will be sounding the trumpets live from Citi Field.

If you thought the atmosphere was crazy now, just wait until those trumpets are coming from inside the stadium.
The trumpets wouldn’t be as iconic as they’ve become if it wasn’t for Diaz’s dominance this year. He’s got an impressive 26 saves to his credit while averaging an absurd 18.1 strikeouts per nine innings and also has a beautiful 1.39 ERA and minuscule 0.86 WHIP on the year as well.
Making it even better is that the Mets look like legitimate contenders, something fans have been longing for. They own the second-best record in baseball and appear well on their way to locking up the NL East with a seven-game lead over the Braves.
So keep sounding the trumpets, because it’s a party in New York now, the night Timmy Trumpet shows up, and hopefully for a long, long time thereafter.
